Random Thoughts #1

I just finished reading Passion & Purity by Elisabeth Elliot. And that book discusses so much about waiting, not in vain but actively! And I really admire the honesty of Jim Elliot about he felt about "Bett" as he fondly called her. And instead of giving in to his raging hormones, he threw his energy to doing what God wants him to do at that time. And when His perfect time came, he "demonstrated" his love for Bett by declaring his love finally and asking her to marry him.

In this day & age when people opt to go "instant" than to wait on the Lord, Elizabeth & Jim Elliot's love story, which they placed under the lordship of Jesus, should be every single person's standard.

When I was in fourth grade, I knew what I wanted to be. A journalist. During summer vacation, I remember tearing away pages in my notebook that have been written on and keeping the blank ones. Then I would write stories on the blank pages. I don’t remember what stories I have written, but I do remember showing them to my dad. That was when he said, “ Anak , I think you’re going to be a journalist when you grow up.” In high school, my Tita Mary gave me a sketch pad. It was just a bunch of bond paper with green covers done in perfect binding. But I treasured that sketch pad. I would bring it to school every day, and while waiting for the teacher to arrive, I would draw my favorite cartoon characters on it. Facing vs. Choosing My Fears

It's 5:30am, I'm looking at my bike, thinking, "Should I really take this to Ortigas today?" Us girls! I'm a biker. Not the hardcore bike-to-work kind, but more of a weekend warrior. I've done city cycling, sometimes with a group, most of the time alone. I really want to take my bike to work, but I haven't gathered enough guts to actually do it. Why? I'm scared. Of what? Oh, just the buses, and trucks, and SUVs that bully you (yes, I've been bullied before).

Why I Won't Forget September 26, 2009

Have you ever had one of those days which seemed to start quite ordinarily, only to find out that the day would be a day of surprises? It all started with my phone alarm going off at 6:00 AM on September 26, 2009. It was a Saturday, so why was I up so early? I was supposed to have a bazaar the following day. I wanted to get my errands done early for that bazaar.
